Wilson Diesel Services is a family-owned mechanical business based in the Northern Territory, supporting mining, civil, power generation and corporate fleets across the Barkly and surrounding regions. With consistent long-term work and expanding contracts, we’re looking to appoint an experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic (HD Mechanic) to join our growing team. This is a residential role based in Tennant Creek. This position is NOT FIFO or DIDO. Key Responsibilities Service, maintain and repair heavy diesel equipment, including: Heavy road transport and fleet vehicles Light vehicles (LVs), 4x4s and support vehicles as required Diagnose and repair mechanical faults across engines, driveline, braking, suspension and cooling systems Carry out preventative maintenance and major servicing to manufacturer specifications Perform breakdown support and fault-finding in workshop and site environments Assist with servicing and repairs on light vehicles when required Work on power generation equipment, including diesel generators (experience strongly regarded) Complete inspections, defect rectifications and compliance checks Road-test vehicles and equipment post-repair to ensure safety and performance standards Maintain accurate job cards, service records and compliance documentation Ensure all work is completed to a high standard with strong focus on safety, quality and efficiency Work collaboratively with the workshop team to manage workload and priorities About You Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent Minimum 3–5 years post-trade experience Proven experience working on light vehicles and willingness to work across both HD and LV fleets Strong diagnostic and repair skills across diesel engines and mechanical systems Experience with power generation equipment (diesel generators) strongly regarded Ability to work independently and manage jobs from start to finish Well organised with good time-management and problem-solving skills Current C-Class Australian Driver’s Licence HR or HC licence highly regarded (MC an advantage) Territory experience and familiarity with regional and remote work environments will be highly regarded.
