Our Mount Magnet Mining (MMG) operations include multiple open pit, underground, and satellite sites with a projected 17-year mine life. The Checkers processing plant at Mt Magnet is currently undergoing a A$223M expansion and upgrade to an initial 4.3Mtpa capacity, with construction expected to be completed in the September 2027 quarter. The Role The Mechanical Fitter plays a key part in keeping the Checkers processing plant running safely and efficiently. Working across fixed plant equipment, this role carries out both planned and reactive maintenance, ensuring high equipment availability and supporting the overall performance of the processing and maintenance teams. Your key responsibilities will include: Carry out scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, repairs, and installations on fixed plant and non-process equipment Complete work orders promptly and follow all SOPs, instructions, and isolation procedures Use tools and equipment safely and correctly in line with manufacturer and company requirements Maintain strong housekeeping standards in the workshop and plant areas Share information clearly and help maintain strong communication between crews Contribute to a positive team culture by assisting colleagues and working together to solve maintenance challenges Communicate risks, issues, and safety events promptly to the Maintenance Supervisor Participate actively in all HSE procedures, hazard reporting, incident reporting, and PPE compliance Undertake after‑hours work on a call-out roster Identify and recommend practical improvements to enhance efficiency and support continuous improvement About You You’re a qualified Mechanical Fitter with strong hands‑on experience in mining or heavy industry, particularly within fixed plant environments. You take pride in safe, high‑quality work and bring solid technical capability, problem‑solving skills, and a proactive approach to maintaining plant reliability. You work well under pressure, communicate effectively with your team, and contribute to a positive, safety‑focused workplace. You bring to the role: Mechanical Fitter Trade Certificate (Cert III or equivalent) Experience in mining or heavy industrial environments, ideally fixed plant maintenance Strong technical knowledge of processing plant equipment, mechanical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and manuals High‑risk work licences (e.g., LF, WP) and current Working at Heights/Confined Space training Skilled in troubleshooting, fault‑finding, and diagnosing mechanical issues Competent with mobile equipment such as skid steers or integrated tool carriers Ability to work safely and effectively under pressure in a fast‑paced team environment Familiarity with maintenance systems (e.g., SAP, Pronto, AMT) and sound computer literacy Desirable experience with crushers, mills, conveyors, and exposure to reliability or condition monitoring practices What We Offer 8:6 roster with FIFO from Perth or BIBO from Geraldton Competitive salary with performance bonuses and benefits strong support for your career, wellbeing and life outside of work 17-year mine life, exciting growth plans and genuine development opportunities Next Steps We can’t wait to hear from you!
