As the Data and Integration Architect , you'll play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing scalable, secure, and future-ready architecture that supports critical business operations, analytics, and decision-making. Location: Sydney (Hybrid work flexibility) Reporting to: Enterprise Architecture Lead Dotted Line Reporting: Group Manager, Enterprise Data & Analytics Team Size: No direct reports Industry: Mining / Utilities / Infrastructure About the Role This is a senior architecture role responsible for defining and guiding enterprise-wide data and integration architecture across a complex, asset-intensive environment. You'll work closely with Enterprise Architecture, Data & Analytics, Engineering, and business stakeholders to ensure data flows securely and reliably across operational systems, integration platforms, and analytics layers - from source systems through to reporting and insight. The role also plays a key part in architecture governance , contributing to the Architecture Review Board (ARB), uplifting data maturity, and acting as a trusted advisor on integration strategy, data governance, security, and emerging technologies , including AI enablement. Key Responsibilities Define and maintain enterprise data and integration architecture frameworks, standards, and reference patterns. Design and govern scalable integration solutions , including APIs, event-based integration, and data pipelines across cloud and on-prem environments. Provide architectural oversight across platforms including Boomi, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, and Coalesce . Ensure strong alignment between integration, analytics, and reporting layers , including Power BI semantic models and enterprise reporting standards. Champion data governance, metadata, lineage, and lifecycle management , supporting the rollout of a formal Data Governance platform (e.g. Alation or KADA ). Guide delivery teams to ensure solutions meet security, compliance, and architectural standards . Contribute to ARB decisions and architecture assurance across integration and data initiatives. Evaluate and advise on emerging technologies , including API strategy, MCPs, and AI-ready architecture patterns. Collaborate across IT, OT, and business teams, balancing strategic intent with practical delivery. Mentor engineers and designers, supporting capability uplift across data and integration disciplines. What We're Looking For Tertiary qualifications in IT, Computer Science, or a related discipline. Strong experience in data and integration architecture within complex enterprise environments. Hands-on architectural knowledge across integration platforms, data pipelines, analytics platforms, and reporting layers . Experience working in asset-intensive or operational environments (e.g. utilities, infrastructure, mining) is highly desirable. Strong understanding of data governance, metadata, and architecture assurance . Ability to influence and operate effectively within a matrixed reporting structure . Experience uplifting architecture capability in low-to-mid data maturity environments . Certifications such as TOGAF, DAMA CDMP, or Microsoft Azure credentials are advantageous.
