The Opportunity We’re continuing to strengthen our national payroll function and are seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Officer to play a key role in supporting our multi-state workforce. This is a senior, hands-on role suited to a payroll professional who enjoys complexity, thrives in high-volume environments, and takes pride in accuracy, compliance and continuous improvement. You’ll work closely with Finance, HR and Operations, contributing to payroll integrity, commercial outcomes and process optimisation across the business. About the Role As a Senior Payroll Officer, you will support end-to-end payroll processing across weekly and fortnightly cycles for both internal employees and a large temporary workforce. You’ll bring strong technical payroll expertise, particularly around awards, rates and compliance, and act as a subject-matter expert within the payroll team. This position will give you the opportunity to provide guidance, support and mentoring to payroll colleagues. Key Responsibilities End-to-end payroll processing (weekly & fortnightly cycles) Interpret and apply modern awards, EBAs and complex pay structures Maintain rate calculators and ensure payroll/billing alignment Reconcile payroll to invoicing and resolve discrepancies Manage STP, superannuation, payroll tax and other statutory obligations Support system improvements and process automation Provide senior-level payroll support and guidance to the team About You You’re a confident and capable Senior Payroll Officer who enjoys responsibility, complexity and collaboration. You’ll bring: 5 years payroll experience (senior payroll role) Strong award/legislation knowledge Experience in labour-hire or recruitment payroll highly regarded Excellent attention to detail and strong Excel skills Confident communicator with stakeholder experience Why Join Synergie?
