About the position: The City of Greater Geraldton’s dedicated team of Horticulture Maintenance Workers undertake operational activities associated with the provision of parks and gardens maintenance services to the greater Geraldton community. We work together to ensure all work is carried out within agreed programs and budget constraints and in compliance with all relevant state and federal regulations, City policies, procedures and relevant Australian standards. This is a full time, fixed term position for a period of up to 1 year with the possibility of extension. Key accountabilities: Maintaining the City’s parks and gardens including streetscapes, amenities, turf, active or passive recreation and other horticultural areas to a high standard Undertaking a variety of activities including planting, weeding, pruning, brush cutting, spraying and removing waste from garden beds Safely operating hand and power tools, plant and specialised horticulture equipment Performing general maintenance and/or labour duties as required For further information and to view the position description, visit www.cgg.wa.gov.au/employment. Position requirements: The successful applicant will ideally have a Certificate II in Horticulture as well as demonstrated experience in horticulture maintenance techniques and methods associated with turf, landscaping, amenities and irrigation. Applicants who have strong knowledge, skills and experience but do not have formal qualifications are strongly encouraged to apply. Completion of a pre-employment medical including alcohol and other substances testing is required of all positions at the City. Remuneration and benefits: A salary starting from $76,072 per annum or $38.4981 per hour will be offered dependent on knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications.
