About the Opportunity The Operating Support & Training (OS&T) Manager is a key leader within the Austal Defence Australia (ADA) Integrated Product Support (IPS) team. The OS&T Manager drives operating and training support outcomes providing strategic leadership for the OS&T Teams across multiple shipbuilding programs. The role sets the enterprise standards and establishes the business processes for conducting crew workforce analysis and design, developing the ship operating procedures and the planning the training support programs. This includes guiding and mentoring the development and integration of Mission System operating procedures as the interactive electronic technical publications (IETP), the training curricula and training equipment, and associated Technical Data within the IPS framework and the integrated data environment. The OS&T Manager ensures the systems, and facilities are in place for the OS&T Teams to complete the Introduction-Into-Service training as contracted and transfer the ship to the customer’s custody. What’s Involved Lead Operating Support management strategies and plans across shipbuilding programs. Lead Training Support management strategies and plans across shipbuilding programs. Lead crew workforce and training resource optimisation across shipbuilding programs. Provide governance and assurance to shipbuilding Operating Support and Training programs. Provide stewardship of Operating Support and Training Technical Data. Measure and report on Operating Support and Training Performance & Readiness. You’ll Need Essential Must hold or be eligible to obtain a Baseline Australian Government Security Clearance Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Project Management, Maritime Operations, Training design credentials: Graduate Certificate/Graduate Diploma in Instructional Design, Adult/VET Education, or Training Systems—suitable for leading complex training programs in defence (AQF Level 8), or equivalent 10 years in IPS or complex maritime or land system environments, and enterprise-level leadership. Proven leadership of workforce Task Analysis and/or training system design, translating operator workload and mission requirements into training solutions. Demonstrated application of Defence training systems and artefacts, assessment strategies. Familiarity with IPS Elements. Ability to coordinate cross-program resources and stakeholder partnerships. Desirable AQF Level 9 postgraduate degree: Master’s (Coursework/Research) in Systems Engineering, Reliability/Maintainability, Learning & Development, Human Factors, or Maritime Operations— useful for leading enterprise training strategies and analytics or AQF Level 8 Bachelor Honours or Graduate Certificate/Diploma in Digital Learning/EdTech (e.g., learning analytics, simulation pedagogy, assessment) to strengthen evaluation and continuous improvement of training outcomes Credential s/ certifications in Instructional Design or Defence training systems; project/program management certifications (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP). (Supports governance and assurance.) Experience with IT Systems Continuous Support (formerly Computer Resources) implications for training and data (e.g., digital learning environments, IETMs, configuration).
