Your new role Due to continued growth and exciting new projects, we are seeking an experienced Machine Operator to join our expanding team. Reporting to the Site Supervisor, you will play a critical role in the safe and efficient delivery of civil and landscape construction works. This is a hands-on role requiring strong attention to detail, precision machine operation, and a commitment to safety and teamwork. You will work across sites throughout Melbourne’s metro area, mostly in the North and Western suburbs operating machinery essential to earthworks, site preparation, and landscape construction. Your main duties: Machine Operation & Earthworks Operate excavators (including 6.5-tonne), skid steers, rollers and other plant safely and efficiently Perform bulk earthworks, trenching, footings, drilling, final trim and precision grade work Shape and grade land using lasers and levelling equipment Operate machinery in confined or limited-access areas with a high level of accuracy Assist with civil works, drainage, subgrade preparation and general landscape construction Plant, Maintenance & Safety Complete daily pre-start checks and routine machinery inspections Maintain machines to a high standard – clean, fuelled, greased and operational Ensure all machinery is operated in line with company procedures and manufacturer requirements Safety, Communication & Teamwork Comply with all WHS policies, SWMS and PPE requirements Participate in pre-starts and toolbox talks Communicate professionally with supervisors, team members and subcontractors Work collaboratively with landscapers and site teams Assist with general site and landscaping tasks when machinery is not in operation About you You are a skilled and safety-conscious Machine Operator who takes pride in your work and enjoys being part of a collaborative site team. To be successful in this role, you will have: Minimum 5 years’ experience operating machinery in civil or landscape construction Excavator ticket (RIIMPO320F or equivalent) Strong experience with precision-grade work and laser levelling Proven ability to work in tight or restricted spaces Sound understanding of earthworks, drainage and soil profiling Ability to read and interpret plans and construction drawings Current White Card, valid driver’s licence and own vehicle. Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain) Strong communication skills and a positive team-focused attitude High attention to detail, safety awareness and work quality Physical capacity to perform manual labour and work outdoors in varying conditions Willingness to work across the Melbourne metro area.
