The Opportunity Due to continued growth, our client is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to Manager – Business Services & Compliance to take ownership of a compliance-heavy client portfolio and support the Partner in delivering high-quality outcomes. This role is ideal for a technically strong accountant who enjoys hands-on compliance work , client management, and mentoring junior staff, while gradually building leadership capability. The position offers scope to step up in responsibility depending on experience level, with clear progression pathways. Key Responsibilities Business Services & Compliance Preparation and review of financial statements and income tax returns for companies, trusts, partnerships, individuals, and SMSFs Manage and oversee compliance obligations including BAS, IAS, FBT, PAYG, and payroll tax Ensure timely and accurate lodgement of statutory requirements Apply up-to-date knowledge of Australian taxation legislation and accounting standards Maintain strong internal quality control and compliance processes Client Management Act as a key point of contact for a portfolio of business clients Build trusted relationships through proactive communication and reliable service delivery Assist the Partner with management of a high-value client portfolio Identify compliance risks and provide practical, technically sound solutions Team Support & Review Review work prepared by junior and intermediate accountants Provide day-to-day technical guidance and mentoring Support training and development of team members Assist with workflow management to ensure deadlines are met Advisory Support (Secondary Focus) Assist with tax planning strategies and structuring advice Support clients with basic business advisory needs as they arise Escalate complex advisory matters to the Partner where required Partner & Practice Support Assist with WIP management, billing, and recovery Contribute to process improvements within the Business Services team Support firm-wide compliance, risk, and operational initiatives What You’ll Bring CA or CPA qualification 5 years’ experience in Australian public practice accounting Strong technical knowledge of Australian tax and compliance requirements Proven experience managing client compliance engagements end-to-end Ability to review work and support junior staff Strong communication skills and a client-first mindset Desire to progress within a professional, structured accounting firm The Offer A competitive salary package is on offer, commensurate with experience from Senior to Manager level , along with performance-based incentives and clear career progression opportunities.
