About The Position: The Social Worker will lead the family support and capacity-building component of SDN’s PlayLinks program, working collaboratively with caregivers to strengthen parenting skills and family functioning. You will co-facilitate supported playgroups alongside an Early Childhood Teacher, provide information and referrals, and deliver culturally responsive, strengths-based support to families. PlayLinks is a Community and Family Support program funded by the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ), operating in Blacktown, Cumberland, and Parramatta LGAs. The program prioritises families with developmental concerns for their children, early diagnosis support, and those at risk of entering the child protection system. Key Responsibilities: Co-facilitate supported playgroups and family programs across designated LGAs. Partner with families to identify goals and develop individualised plans that strengthen parenting skills and family functioning. Provide advice, referrals, and case management support to connect families with appropriate services. Apply coaching and strengths-based approaches to build confidence, resilience, and self-determination in families. Maintain accurate records, contribute to DEX reporting, and ensure compliance with child protection legislation. Work collaboratively with community partners and represent SDN at external meetings. What We’re Looking For: University qualifications in Social Work or relevant discipline. Demonstrated ability to support children (0–5 years) and families experiencing vulnerabilities such as disability, social isolation, domestic and family violence, mental health challenges, and substance misuse. Strong knowledge of child protection practices and relevant legislation. Experience in coaching caregivers to strengthen parenting capacities. Ability to work with culturally diverse (CALD and Aboriginal) families and communities. Excellent communication, relationship-building, and networking skills. Current Working with Children Check (NSW), National Police Check, and driver’s licence.
