What you’ll do Americold is seeking an experienced, proactive Safety Manager to provide critical operational safety support across six Queensland sites and one site in Western Australia. This is a true business partnering role — working shoulder to shoulder with operational leaders while driving safety excellence, workers' compensation management, and return-to-work outcomes. As the QLD & WA Safety Manager, you will coordinate, guide, and elevate safety, workers' compensation, and return‑to‑work functions across multiple high-performing operational sites. You’ll act as the trusted advisor to site leadership, embedding safe practices, leading investigations, and shaping a proactive safety culture. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys autonomy, problem-solving, and partnering closely with the business to deliver practical safety outcomes. Key Responsibilities Provide hands-on safety coaching and support to operational leaders, empowering them to lead safety effectively. Implement and maintain safety and RTW systems across QLD & WA, ensuring consistency and compliance. Lead serious incident investigations, support site risk assessments, and drive risk‑management strategies. Manage workers' compensation and return‑to‑work processes, including insurer liaison, early intervention, and rehabilitation planning. Conduct risk and trend analysis, providing actionable insights and improvement recommendations to site management. Drive safety improvement programs and awareness initiatives across all sites. Champion safety culture through behaviours, communication, and regular BBS engagement. Coordinate state safety reporting, audits, and regulatory compliance requirements. Collaborate as a true business partner, building strong relationships and fostering a cooperative, solution-focused approach. Spend significant time in the field (approx. 70%), travelling across sites and assessing operations — including cold‑storage environments below freezing. What Experience and Education You Need . Tertiary qualifications in Safety or equivalent post-secondary studies. Minimum 5 years’ experience in Safety. Strong influencing skills with the ability to make and execute effective decisions. Experience within manufacturing and/or logistics environments, including managing high MHE (Material Handling Equipment) traffic and associated risk controls. Proven experience in RTW/Rehabilitation processes and safety compliance. Strong analytical, coaching, and problem-solving capabilities. High attention to detail with strong planning and organisational skills. Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple priorities. Advanced communication skills with the ability to mentor and coach leaders. Proficiency in Windows, Outlook, Webex, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Warehouse Management Systems.
