Who are we? Cevo helps organisations build the capability for continuous evolution, turning transformation from a one-off program into a lasting ability to adapt, innovate and deliver better outcomes. As an Australian-owned AWS Premier Consulting Partner, we design and deliver modern cloud platforms, unlock data for insight and apply AI where it creates real value, while empowering teams so capability and impact extend well beyond each engagement. With onshore teams across Australia, we’ve partnered with more than 200 organisations across start-ups, commercial, enterprise and government. Role Purpose: The Principal Cloud Native Developer will be responsible for assessing the current cloud architecture and application landscape, defining a strategic roadmap for modernisation, and leading the implementation of cloud-native solutions on AWS. This role combines technical leadership, strategic thinking, and hands-on development to enable scalable, secure, and cost-efficient cloud solutions following AWS prescriptive modernisation pathways. Key Responsibilities: Current State Assessment: Conduct comprehensive application portfolio assessments using AWS prescriptive guidance frameworks. You will be the first to engage with new clients and be expected to shape the readiness and commencement of projects. Analyze existing application architecture, infrastructure, and deployment processes. Identify gaps, risks, and opportunities for modernisation across the application portfolio. Strategy & Roadmap Development: Define a cloud-native strategy aligned with business objectives following AWS's three-phase approach: Assess, Modernise, and Manage. Create a migration and modernisation roadmap for applications and services based on AWS prescriptive modernisation pathways. Prioritise applications for modernisation using AWS recommended assessment criteria and business value analysis. Develop phased modernisation approaches that balance risk, complexity, and business impact. Solution Design & Implementation: Architect and implement cloud-native applications leveraging AWS services (e.g., ECS/EKS, Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, RDS). Apply AWS modernisation patterns including monolith decomposition, microservices integration, and data persistence strategies. Design solutions that support AI/ML integration pathways for future innovation and competitive advantage. Implement event-driven architectures and serverless patterns to maximise cloud-native benefits. Ensure solutions follow best practices for scalability, security, and cost optimisation. AI-Accelerated Engineering Champion the adoption of AI toolchains such as Amazon Q Developer, Bedrock-powered coding assistants and generative AI patterns. Help clients embed AI-enabled workflows into SDLC processes for speed, safety and reliability. Provide guidance on responsible AI use for engineering teams. Leadership & Collaboration: Act as a technical lead for development teams, providing guidance on cloud-native patterns and AWS modernisation best practices. Coach teams on transitioning from monolithic to microservices architectures using AWS prescriptive guidance. Collaborate with stakeholders (engineering, security, operations) to align on modernisation priorities and deliverables. Drive cultural transformation to support modern software development practices and DevOps methodologies. Governance & Standards: Establish coding standards, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices.
