Our client delivers enabling services and operational capability to support the Department and Australian businesses. This role plays a critical part in delivering major ICT initiatives that underpin digital transformation, service delivery and enterprise capability across government. As a Technical Project Manager , you will be responsible for leading end-to-end delivery of complex technical projects, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, managing vendors and ensuring outcomes are delivered on time, within scope and aligned with Australian Government standards. Key Responsibilities: Lead the planning, delivery and governance of complex ICT projects from initiation through to implementation. Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders , delivery partners and cross-agency collaborators. Manage project risks, issues, dependencies and constraints , providing clear and timely reporting to governance forums. Coordinate multidisciplinary technical teams , including solution architects, developers, testers and vendors. Provide technical oversight across solution architecture, system integrations, data flows and non-functional requirements. Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture , platforms and technology roadmaps. Work collaboratively in Agile delivery environments to achieve agreed outcomes and benefits realisation. Ensure projects comply with Australian Government standards , including the Digital Service Standard (DSS). Oversee security, privacy, data governance and operational readiness , including transition-to-support activities. Assess and manage the implications of emerging technologies such as automation and AI on project delivery. Key Experience and Skills: Relevant ICT qualifications and a minimum of 10 years’ experience successfully delivering complex ICT projects and programs within Federal Government environments. Demonstrated capability to identify, assess and manage project, program and technical risks , including dependencies, constraints and compliance requirements. Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including business areas, cross-agency partners and service providers. Recognised project management certifications (e.g. PRINCE2, PMP, Agile, Scrum) and hands-on experience applying project delivery methodologies including Waterfall, Agile and Hybrid approaches. Strong experience with backlog management , iteration planning and release management in Agile or hybrid delivery environments. Excellent written and verbal communication skills , with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for senior executives and non-technical stakeholders. Demonstrated technical acumen across: Solution architecture and system design Integrations and APIs Cloud platforms and services DevOps practices (including CI/CD pipelines) Cybersecurity controls and compliance Data management and governance Experience delivering large-scale digital transformation or enterprise ICT initiatives within the Commonwealth Government is highly regarded.
