The Director External and Internal Budget's role leads a team delivering the External Budget processes for Austrade, providing insights and strategic advice for Austrade's Executive regarding longer term financial sustainability and responsibility for the internal budget framework. The candidate must have exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, build effective relationships across finance and external agencies, proactively identify and secure relevant support for deliverables and provide timely information. We are looking for a results-oriented person who is highly organised, demonstrates a strong track record of delivery, and has excellent communication skills. The key duties of the position include Manage end-to-end Commonwealth budget processes (Budget, MYEFO, Estimates), delivering accurate, timely and high-quality outputs aligned to government priorities. Build effective and trusted relationships with SES, policy leaders and central agencies. Lead the preparation and development of the Executive Finance Reporting. Contribute to clear, credible briefings for senior executives and Ministers. Ensure compliance with the PGPA framework, maintain strong financial controls, and proactively identify and manage long term budget risks. Lead and develop high-performing budget teams, setting clear expectations and supporting delivery during high-pressure cycles. Lead the internal budget framework development. Regularly engage with CFO to update on reporting, and develop/update financial plans Collaborate with other Finance leaders to develop financial insights and consolidate reporting.
