As a Youth Multicultural Peer Worker, you’ll use your own mental health journey to walk alongside culturally diverse young people, break down stigma, and help them feel seen, supported, and empowered. Your role, your impact This part-time role is grounded in Intentional Peer Support (IPS) principles – connection, worldview, mutuality, and moving toward. You’ll build genuine relationships with culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) young people, share your story safely and purposefully, and create inclusive spaces where help-seeking feels possible. Reporting to the Community Engagement Coordinator, you’ll: Offer one-on-one peer support and co-facilitate CALD peer groups Collaborate on culturally responsive events and social campaigns Work within local communities – including schools, festivals, and sports clubs Use your experience to advocate for inclusive, youth-led mental health support Help reduce stigma and strengthen belonging for Chinese, Sri Lankan and Indian communities in particular About you You might be studying, working part-time, or exploring what’s next – but you know your lived experience and cultural background are powerful assets. We're looking for people who: Identify with Chinese, Indian, or Sri Lankan heritage (language skills are a bonus!) Understanding of IPS or commitment to complete IPS Core Training. Have lived experience of mental health challenges and feel safe to share parts of that story with others Are passionate about creating safe, welcoming spaces for CALD young people Have great communication skills and want to learn more about peer work, group facilitation, or community engagement Are happy to work from both the office and in the local community – sometimes after hours or on weekends We strongly encourage applications from young people aged 18-25 who bring lived experience and cultural insight to this role. As this position is designed to support young people from multicultural backgrounds, peer relatability is essential.
