As a Senior Inspector (Equipment Safety) within the Electrical Safety Office (ESO), you'll play a key role in protecting Queenslanders by ensuring electrical equipment is safe at every stage , from design, manufacturing and supplying to installation, usage and disposal. What You'll Be Doing:- Contribute to the ongoing development of electrical safety in Queensland through legislation, standards and codes.- Undertake projects requiring a degree of research and technical expertise on a range of electrical equipment safety, legislative and operational strategies and issues.- Conduct audits of Recognised External Certification Schemes, particularly file audits to ensure certified electrical equipment is electrically safe.- Conduct assessments in relation to the cathodic protection systems legislative framework.- Conduct audits, testing and investigation for electrical equipment safety compliance including unapproved or defective electrical equipment or fires resulting from electrical causes.- Provide quality, timely and accessible advice and information across a range of electrical safety issues, legislative and operational strategies and technical issues. Ideally, you have:- Experience in the application of the safety principles of electrical equipment and evaluating test reports and examining equipment for compliance with Australian Standards and Queensland legislative requirements.- For this role, qualifications, knowledge, and experience in electrical engineering or a closely related field to achieve safety outcomes for electrical equipment, are considered essential for effective performance. However, there are no formal mandatory requirements- Experience auditing test reports and working within the supply chain or regulatory frameworks.- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to translate complex technical content into clear, actionable advice, particularly with members of the public.- The ability to continue to learn and apply new ideas and innovations.
