As the Senior Accountant - Finance Operations, you will oversee the Finance Operations Team who is responsible for a combination of financial control and operational activities. This includes monitoring integrity of financial data from operational systems into the ledger, moderate – high risk transaction level balance sheet reconciliations and accounts payable. This role combines technical accounting skills with strong commercial acumen, enabling the translation of commercial arrangements into robust financial processes for accounting and balance sheet transaction level reconciliations. You will coach and support your direct reports, lead other members of the Finance team and collaborate with the broader organisation by bringing an enterprise view. This role is based in Brisbane. You’ll make an impact by: Overseeing preparation and performing review of journals and key operational reconciliations on daily and monthly basis (e.g. bank, clearing, suspense and customer-related balances) within assigned deadlines. Managing reporting, escalation and monitoring of aged items in key operational reconciliations. Overseeing new products, vendor and system changes with Products, Operations, Group Finance and Technology to ensure these are correctly reflected in operational accounting and reconciliations. Reviewing and authorising vendor payments on a weekly basis, with back up support to authorisation of treasury settlements. Contributing to the planning, design, and delivery of finance transformation initiatives, with a focus on improving finance systems, data quality, and process efficiency. Leading, coaching and developing Finance Operations team members to ensure high performance, capability growth and succession planning. Keeping abreast with government regulations and reporting requirements (e.g. Payment Times Reporting) and recommending strategies to implement changes as necessary. Do things differently with us To succeed in this role, you will have: Seven plus years’ commercial accounting experience or similar, preferably holding a senior or management position within chartered and commercial organisations. Experience in banking or financial services preferred (but not required), to support technical knowledge of customer transaction flows in the general ledger and reconciliations. Demonstrated leadership experience with responsibility for people management and workflow oversight. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel (including Power Query, advanced formulae and VBA). High level of numeracy and literacy skills with strong attention to detail. Strong understanding of accounting standards and financial control frameworks. Proficient in using ERP systems.
