The Opportunity To assist with the delivery of Banana Shire Councils water and sewerage asset and maintenance management functions under the general direction of the Principal Water Engineer - Treatment Systems. This position will work closely with a wide variety of stakeholders including office and operational staff to implement projects that deliver positive outcomes for the team. About Us Banana Shire is situated in Central Queensland, Australia located 120 km west of the growing industrial city and port of Gladstone - and an easy drive to the city of Rockhampton. Our population is approximately 15,000 people spread over 28,577 square kilometres. Major industries in the area include Coal Mining, Power Generation, Beef Production, dryland cropping and irrigation such as Lucerne and Cotton. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Assist with the strategic development and ongoing optimisation of asset and maintenance management plans for water and sewerage assets Utilise Council’s software, including Assetic, Authority and GIS, to develop asset management and maintenance plans Assist with asset renewals, maintenance activities and other projects in conjunction with relevant stakeholders Plan and prioritise external preventative maintenance tasks to ensure service standards are maintained while delivering value for money Work closely with both office and operational staff to develop, implement and review a best-practice approach to preventative maintenance Assist with the delivery of the capital works program, undertaking project management for allocated works Undertake relevant project management tasks, including project scoping, requests for quote and tender development, tender assessments, procurement and contractor management Ensure projects are capitalised with a high level of detail, including all relevant as-cons, equipment details etc Assist with the development and planning of Council’s capital, operational and maintenance budgets Assist with reviewing water and sewerage operational policies and procedures Assist with the implementation of required actions in accordance with the Drinking Water Quality Management Plan and the Recycled Water Management Plan Report on the operation of water and sewerage assets, including any departures from designated operating parameters Assist with the supervision of contractors undertaking work on treatment-related assets Contribute to promoting the image of Council and maximising positive public relations Liaise with clients, Council staff, the public, consultants, utility providers and government authorities in the performance of duties, including providing and obtaining information Undertake routine administrative tasks as required, including completion of timesheets Assist senior staff to continuously improve work processes and develop new practices, as required Participate in training, exercises and response activities for disaster management and recovery as required Undertake other relevant duties as directed, consistent with skills, competence and training. QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND LICENCE REQUIREMENTS Compulsory Queensland ‘C’ class manual driver’s licence (minimum requirement – provisional licence) Graduate Degree in Engineering ABILITIES, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED Compulsory A genuine interest in improving asset and maintenance processes within the water industry Demonstrated ability to work with multi-disciplined teams to deliver positive project outcomes Leadership and mentoring skills, with the skills to facilitate the transfer of information and knowledge Highly developed customer service, oral and written communication and interpersonal skills Demonstrated ability to research, problem solve and manage the time of self and others Experience in the use of telemetry, asset management software and GIS Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to EEO and WHS principles and practices. Desirable Local Government experience relating to water services/asset management Queensland Construction White Card.
