Role description: Arcadis is growing across Transportation, Energy and Renewables, Water, Ports and Maritime, and Buildings. We’re expanding our Geotechnical and Tunnel Engineering team and seeking a hands-on leader to win and deliver geotechnical site investigation works. In this role, you will work closely with experts in geotechnics, tunnelling, hydrogeology, environmental science, and pavement engineering to plan integrated, effective investigations. You will be involved in site investigation works across the entire project life cycle project from desktop studies and concept planning, through to detailed design. Role accountabilities: Site investigation (SI) planning and management, including: Preparing SI scopes and programs Developing investigation methods (borehole drilling, CPT, test pits, geophysics, etc) Scoping in-situ and laboratory testing Managing and coordinating access, permits, and services searches Managing subcontractors Ensuring implementation of safety and quality management plans Coordinating traffic and environmental controls Field delivery and supervision, including: Overseeing field works to ensure high-quality sampling and logging to AS 1726 Site inspections and geological face mapping for slopes, foundations and excavations Planning and supervising I&M installations (e.g., groundwater monitoring wells, piezometers, inclinometers) Developing ground models using OpenGround/gINT/Leapfrog and apply GIS/CAD for data analysis and presentation Desktop studies and preparing Geotechnical Factual Reports (GFR) and Geotechnical Interpretive Reports (GIR) Bid preparation, including: Leading SI bids and developing fee proposals Identifying risks and opportunities Managing program, budget and variations Coordinating engagement and contracts with subcontractor Management SI projects Promote technical excellence: Mentoring and developing junior engineers in site investigations and report writing; Driving innovation in SI (advanced in-situ methods, geophysics, automated monitoring, drones) Maintaining close engagement with innovative third-party specialists, suppliers and contractors. Qualification & Experience: Degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology; postgraduate qualifications advantageous. Strong practical geological background with local project experience Proven experience delivering geotechnical site investigations, field management, logging, data QA/QC, and timely, high-quality reporting Thorough knowledge of SI standards (e.g AS 1726, AS 1289), Familiarity in TfNSW/Austroads/DTP/TMR specs and relevant international guidance Proficiency with gINT, AGS, GIS/CAD, and Microsoft Office (Excel/Word) Experience or interest in mastering Leapfrog and OpenGround implementation Experience working alongside hydrogeology, contamination, and environmental teams on integrated site investigations Excellent client-facing communication Strong written and verbal communication skills Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills with subcontractors and stakeholders Demonstrated site safety awareness and leadership White Card and valid driver’s licence Ability to travel to sites as required Why Arcadis?
