About the organisation The Clean Energy Regulator (CER) is a statutory Commonwealth agency established under the Clean Energy Regulator Act 2011. The CER administers legislated climate and energy schemes and provides regulatory oversight, reporting and market analysis to support Australia's emissions reduction objectives. About the role As Chief Executive Officer, reporting to the Minister for Climate Change and Energy, you will be a statutory appointee, leading the staff of the CER and performing your role of Chair of the CER's Regulator Board. You will be responsible for the day-to-day administration of the CER, ensuring it performs its functions as set out in legislation, and will act in accordance with the policies determined, and any directions given, by the CER. You will be a change leader with the professional experience to deliver outcomes for the CER's diverse set of stakeholders. Your judgement and communication skills will enable you to work with stakeholders from government, science, industry, non-government organisations and academia. To be a strong contender for this appointment, you must have substantial experience or knowledge in at least one of a range of fields relevant to the CER, high level judgement and leadership skills, demonstrated professional and personal integrity and a strong commitment to, and an understanding of public sector governance and accountability. It is also highly desirable for you to have a strong background in climate and energy policy, experience handling public and media scrutiny, and the ability to exhibit sharp judgement and awareness in a regulatory role.
