At Tooleybuc, they operate ~2,000ha of almonds across the lower Murray, with Tooleybuc and Goodnight running as a connected hub and a third site nearby at Piangil. You’ll be joining a down-to-earth orchard team that values consistency, collaboration and getting things done properly. A core team of ~13–14 (plus admin) runs day-to-day operations, supported by contractors for major programs. It’s a practical, well-aligned crew where people back each other and take pride in the work. Irrigation sits at the centre of performance here - permanent roles are structured around doing it well and doing it reliably. The Role You function like a Farm Supervisor for your block: field-based, execution-focused and highly hands-on. Reporting to the Operations Manager, with functional support from the Irrigation Manager, you’ll coordinate daily irrigation and operations delivery and routine upkeep across ~800ha, while supervising a team of 3 irrigators. The emphasis is on reliable day-to-day delivery, early fault detection and maintaining standards in a dynamic, contractor-led setting. Key Responsibilities Your focus is to deliver consistent, reliable irrigation across your allocated block while keeping systems performing and the team on task. Supervise 3 Irrigators/Farm Hands, set daily priorities and monitor work quality Coordinate day-to-day irrigation delivery across ~800ha, adjusting runs to suit orchard condition, demand and system performance. Complete daily headland checks and system monitoring; identify and act on issues early. Monitor dam refills, river pump operation and basic pump performance, escalating faults as required. Support basic irrigation scheduling and fertigation under guidance. Be hands-on when required, including JCB/forklift work and almond outloading during harvest. What You Bring You’re a practical operator who’s comfortable leading from the front and taking ownership on the ground. Additionally, you’ll come with: Hands-on experience across tree cropping, orchards or broader horticulture systems. Exposure to drip irrigation systems, with the practical confidence to work around them day to day (preferred). Proven ability supervising small teams and keeping work moving to standard. Comfortable in a physically active, outdoor role across changing conditions and seasons. A calm, reliable communicator with a low-ego mindset, comfortable where systems aren’t always perfectly documented.
