The Employment and Trade Policy Team drives a strategic approach to policy development across the portfolio areas of employment and workforce related policy including closing the gap in skills and training, migration, international education and trade. The team is also responsible for DTET's portfolio legislation ensuring it remains fit for purpose and briefing on Cabinet submissions. The team coordinates major policy projects and internal and external research and evaluations, including with respect to participation in whole of government policy activities. Current priorities include leading and coordinating the development of a new workforce action plan, implementing plans for Closing the Gap, and key priorities under skilled migration and international education. As the Senior Policy Officer, you will:- Contribute and/or coordinate research, analysis of strategic policy issues and the development of strategic advice to the Minister, the Director-General and senior officers in the DTET portfolio.- Contribute and/or lead the preparation of strategic policy documentation (including Cabinet, Cabinet Budget Review Committee papers, reports, papers, statements, briefings and correspondence) that inform decision-making by Ministerial and senior executives.- Lead and/or contribute to projects that develop innovative and practical policy options and solutions.- Review existing policy and contribute to the development and drafting of new policy recommendations and proposals through research, policy analysis and data analysis.- Collaborate across DTET and other Queensland Government agencies to coordinate information and intelligence gathering, reporting and communication activities that support key policy initiatives.
