Description Practice Group Head, Global Transaction Services Legal & Document Support, WIB Create your best future and join Westpac’s Institutional Bank as a Practice Group Head, Global Transaction Services (GTS) Legal & Document Support. What’s the role? Global Transaction Services (GTS) deliver innovative and reliable transaction banking solutions across domestic and international markets, while also managing the payment infrastructure for the entire Westpac Group. In this role you’ll sit in Westpac’s Institutional Bank (WIB) Legal team, reporting to the General Counsel for Corporate, Treasury and WIB to lead the team who provide expert legal guidance on all GTS matters. Your role will intersect strategy, trust and execution. For this role you’ll need strong experience building and managing relationships with senior stakeholders, an understanding of the payments ecosystem, and regulatory framework and experience advising on digital products, platforms and channels. You’ll lead the GTS Legal and Document Support team of ~7, a high ‑ calibre team delivering clear, commercially grounded legal advice across complex payments, transaction banking and digital enablement. You’ll partner closely with the most senior leaders in WIB, bringing judgement, perspective and momentum when it matters most. You’ll bring your solid leadership experience to set direction, lift capability, foster innovation, and build a function known for pace, insight and impact. What do I need? Proven Practice Group Head level leadership across complex legal functions, with over 15 years PQE gained in private practice or in-house legal functions supporting institutional banking businesses (payments experience ideal but not essential) Providing first-line leadership, decision-making, and support for GTS Legal and Document Support team members, you’ll have a track record of building high ‑ performance teams Deep institutional banking experience with sharp commercial judgement Presence to influence senior executives. Strong stakeholder leadership with experience as a trusted, credible and confident advisor allowing you to challenge when required with the ability to simplify complex regulatory arrangements A strategic mindset that translates Transaction banking and payments regulation, risk and complexity into clear, practical action Why join us?
