The key duties of the position include The Role As the APS 5 ICT Systems Administrator for the Australian Navy Cadets Directorate (ANCD) you will work within a diverse team that delivers ICT services to a broad range of stakeholders. You will be accountable under broad direction to perform and achieve complex helpdesk, communications and applications support work within an integrated and dispersed workforce. You will need to possess or rapidly develop an in-depth knowledge of complex, bespoke applications developed in house to support and enable stakeholder groups. You will exercise both initiative and judgement in the interpretation of policy and in the application of practices and procedures. About our Team The Australian Navy Cadets (ANC) is Navy's youth development and community engagement program. The ANC has 78 Navy Cadet Units across Australia, consisting of over 2,500 cadets and over 500 Officer of Cadets and Defence Approved Helper volunteers. The Australian Navy Cadets Directorate's ICT team provides essential technical support that keeps Cadet Operations running smoothly across the country. The team delivers projects that modernise digital platforms, improve workflow automation, enhance user experience, and strengthen data management and reporting. This work directly supports Defence's broader mission by enabling safe, effective youth development through technology aligned with ADF standards and security requirements. Our Ideal Candidate We are looking for an ICT System Administrator that is driven and passionate about customer support. You will bring proven experience in ICT service management, application support, knowledge management, and stakeholder and relationship management to the role. As a collaborator you will understand the needs of our varied stakeholders and provide appropriate advice to resolve issues and will be adaptable and respond to the changing context with agility to meet that new demand. You will be willing to learn and provide cross-functional support in a high-paced environment. You will be resourceful in learning about the ANCD business outcomes, maintain current industry knowledge and provide solutions to complex problems. You will need to possess relevant and recently employed skills to assist development of a range of enterprise level ICT Applications and Website Administration to support the Australian Navy Cadets. You will also have strong written and verbal communication skills and possess the ability to assist with the documentation of processes and procedures, the creation of self-help and Knowledge Base articles.
