Blood Borne Virus / Sexually Transmitted Infections RN Role Overview Provide sexual and blood-borne virus (BBV) testing, treatment, education and prevention services in clinical and community settings. Key Responsibilities Clinical Care Assess clients and provide testing for BBVs (HIV, hepatitis B & C) and STIs. Collect specimens (blood, swabs) and manage results and follow-up. Provide treatment, health advice, counselling and referrals within scope of practice. Support prevention activities such as vaccinations and harm-reduction education. Community & Public Health Deliver health education on safer sex, transmission, testing and prevention. Work with doctors, allied health and community workers. Assist with contact tracing and public health follow-up. Administration & Quality Maintain accurate clinical records and reports. Contribute to service improvement, audits, education and training. Skills & Qualifications Registered Nurse (AHPRA) – essential. Experience in sexual health, community or public health nursing preferred. Strong skills in assessment, specimen collection, counselling and education. Excellent communication, cultural sensitivity and non-judgmental approach.
