Data Migration Lead - Insurance Platform - Policy Migration Initial 8-month Fixed Term Contract with possible extension Melbourne CBD, WFH, hybrid $150k - $200 Super The organisation Talenza is partnering with a leading professional services organisation undertaking a major core platform transformation. This program is focused on modernising policy administration capabilities and delivering a scalable, future-ready insurance core environment. This is a critical role within the transformation, responsible for ensuring the accurate, secure, and performant migration of complex legacy policy data into a modern core insurance platform. Key Responsibilities Lead the end-to-end data migration workstream within a core insurance platform transformation; Duck Creek, GuideWire, Sapiens or equivalent. Own migration planning, scope definition, sequencing, and delivery across multiple sprints Design, configure, test, and execute data migration runs into the target core platform Analyse complex legacy data structures and work with business and data analysts to define data mappings and transformation rules Define and manage user stories, acceptance criteria, estimates, and sprint outcomes for the migration stream Oversee the full data loading lifecycle, including pre-load validation, execution, reconciliation, and post-load verification Optimise migration performance to support large data volumes, cutover windows, and agreed SLAs Identify, investigate, and resolve data quality issues, defects, and performance bottlenecks Collaborate closely with BAs, data analysts, legacy SMEs, ETL developers, integration teams, and QA Provide hands-on technical contribution where required to ensure delivery outcomes are met Lead and coordinate ETL developers and support resources within the migration team Key Skills & Experience 5 years' hands-on experience delivering data migration for core insurance platforms Proven experience migrating data from mainframe or complex legacy policy systems Strong understanding of the insurance policy lifecycle, including policy, endorsements, customers, and reference data End-to-end knowledge of the data migration lifecycle, from source analysis through to production load Solid experience with ETL concepts, data processing, and transformation logic Strong SQL skills for data validation, reconciliation, and defect analysis Experience working with relational and/or NoSQL databases Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor ETL or data migration delivery teams Comfortable operating in Agile delivery environments and working across small, fast-moving teams Benefits Lead one of the most critical streams in a major insurance transformation High-impact role with genuine ownership and visibility Competitive $150k-$200k super package on an 8-month FTC with possible extension Opportunity to work on a modern core insurance platform with long-term relevance
