The Client A Class Building Materials is seeking an experienced Procurement Manager to join their team at Truganina, VIC. The role is responsible for ensuring cost-effective, timely, and quality procurement of building materials to support business operations and customer demand. The Role This is for a full time role with an annual salary of $120,000 plus superannuation. Responsibilities Plan, develop, and implement procurement strategies aligned with operational requirements and business growth objectives. Source, evaluate, negotiate, and manage suppliers of building and construction materials to achieve competitive pricing, quality standards, and reliable delivery schedules. Prepare and manage supplier contracts, purchase agreements, and pricing arrangements in line with commercial and legal requirements. Analyse demand forecasts, inventory levels, and material usage to ensure optimal stock availability while minimising excess inventory and wastage. Oversee purchasing activities to ensure materials are procured within approved budgets and in accordance with specifications. Monitor supplier performance and address quality, delivery, or cost issues to maintain service continuity. Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives, alternative sourcing options, and procurement efficiencies. Ensure procurement processes comply with company policies, Australian standards, and relevant regulatory requirements. Collaborate with warehouse, operations, sales, and finance teams to align procurement planning with project timelines and customer demand. Prepare procurement reports, cost analyses, and performance metrics for management review. Assess supply chain risks and implement mitigation strategies to minimise disruption to operations. Supervise and support staff involved in purchasing, inventory coordination, or supplier administration, where applicable. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Commerce, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. At least 5 years of proven experience working as a Procurement Manager, Purchasing Manager, or in a senior procurement role. At least 5 years of experience managing supplier sourcing, negotiations, contracts, and commercial agreements. At least 5 years of experience in inventory planning, demand forecasting, and stock optimisation within a construction or materials supply environment. At least 5 years of experience managing procurement budgets, cost control, and expenditure reporting. At least 5 years of experience coordinating procurement activities across multiple stakeholders, departments, or operational sites. Strong knowledge of procurement principles, supply chain operations, contract management, and supplier performance evaluation, supported by extensive hands-on experience. Highly developed negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills. Ability to work under pressure, manage competing priorities, and meet operational deadlines. Commitment to professionalism, accuracy, compliance, and ethical procurement practices.
