About the role: As an Assistant Manager in our Audit & Assurance team, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping audit outcomes, leading high‑performing teams, and delivering insightful, high‑quality solutions to a diverse portfolio of clients. This is a career‑defining opportunity for a technically strong audit professional who’s ready to take ownership of engagements, influence client relationships, and develop the next generation of auditors, while working closely with Partners and senior stakeholders. In this hands‑on leadership role, you’ll oversee multiple concurrent audit engagements, providing technical guidance, quality oversight, and commercial insight. You’ll be trusted to manage complexity, mentor junior team members, and contribute to the continued growth and success of the Audit & Assurance practice in Melbourne. Key Responsibilities Identifying, assessing and resolving complex technical accounting and audit matters Reviewing financial statements to ensure compliance with Accounting Standards, including preparation of reports and audit opinions for management Performing detailed reviews of audit work and coaching team members to ensure quality outcomes Summarising key engagement matters and insights for Partner review Managing multiple audit engagements concurrently, coordinating engagement teams across each audit Assisting with the management and coordination of audit teams, including training, mentoring and adherence to audit methodology Monitoring staffing requirements and proactively addressing future resourcing and capacity needs Supporting Partners and Managers with business development initiatives and marketing activities About you: You’re a confident and commercially minded audit professional who’s ready to lead, whether you’re already operating at Assistant Manager level or stepping confidently into your next career stage. You combine strong technical capability with a collaborative leadership style and take pride in delivering audits that add real value to clients. Demonstrated Experience & Attributes 4–5 years’ audit experience, ideally with some team management exposure CA qualification (or equivalent) and a degree in Business/Commerce (Accounting major) Strong communication and interpersonal skills Excellent attention to detail and analytical thinking Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team Proven problem-solving and decision-making abilities Sound knowledge of the Corporations Act, Australian Accounting and Auditing Standards Previous experience managing or mentoring a team (desirable) Life at RSM: RSM provides a great environment to build skills and confidence and we help our people achieve their best.
