Clinical Director – Anaesthesia & Perioperative Medicine Gladstone | Central Queensland Health Fixed Term – 3 Years About the Role Central Queensland Health is seeking an accomplished Clinical Director, Anaesthesia and Perioperative Medicine to provide strategic and clinical leadership across perioperative services in the Gladstone region. This senior leadership role is responsible for delivering safe, high-quality, patient-centred perioperative care, while shaping service planning, implementing contemporary models of care, and driving continuous performance improvement across the service. The Clinical Director provides expert leadership across inpatient, outpatient, on-call, and outreach services, working collaboratively with executive, medical, nursing, and allied health leaders to ensure excellence in clinical outcomes and service sustainability. Key Responsibilities Provide strategic and operational leadership for Anaesthesia and Perioperative Medicine services Lead the development and implementation of contemporary perioperative models of care Champion clinical governance, quality and safety, including: Clinical audit and risk management Incident review and quality improvement initiatives Medico-legal advice and accreditation compliance Drive workforce planning, education, and professional development to build and sustain high-performing multidisciplinary teams Support service performance, access, and efficiency across the perioperative continuum Contribute to broader health service planning and regional clinical leadership initiatives You will be a senior specialist with: Fellowship in Anaesthesia (or equivalent) and eligibility for AHPRA Specialist Registration Extensive clinical expertise in Anaesthesia and Perioperative Medicine Demonstrated experience in clinical leadership, governance, and service development Strong communication, collaboration, and change-management skills A commitment to patient safety, quality improvement, and workforce development Why Gladstone & Central Queensland Health Key regional centre with excellent lifestyle balance Coastal living with easy access to beaches, islands, and outdoor recreation Opportunity to make a lasting impact in a senior leadership role Supportive executive environment with scope to influence system-wide improvement
