About the role On behalf of our client, we are currently seeking a qualified and experienced Airconditioning and Refrigeration Mechanic to join our dynamic technical team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of a wide range of air conditioning and refrigeration systems for our commercial, industrial, and residential clients. This role requires a high level of technical expertise, a strong commitment to safety and quality, and excellent customer service skills. Duties and Responsibilities Installation and Commissioning: Installing various types of air conditioning systems, including split systems, multi-head units, ducted systems, and Variable Refrigerant Flow/Volume (VRF/VRV) systems. Installing commercial refrigeration equipment such as cool rooms, freezer rooms, display cabinets, and process cooling systems. Reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to ensure correct installation. Commissioning new systems to ensure they operate to manufacturer specifications and client requirements. Maintenance and Servicing: Conducting scheduled preventative maintenance on HVAC&R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration) systems to ensure optimal performance and longevity. Cleaning filters, coils, and other components; checking refrigerant levels; and testing system controls. Identifying and rectifying potential issues before they result in major breakdowns. Diagnostics and Repairs: Diagnosing faults in complex mechanical and electrical systems. Performing breakdown repairs efficiently and effectively to minimise downtime for clients. Carrying out refrigerant recovery, pressure testing, evacuation, and charging in accordance with industry regulations. Repairing or replacing defective components, including compressors, motors, thermostats, and control circuits. Compliance and Safety: Adhering to all relevant Australian Standards (AS/NZS), industry codes of practice, and environmental regulations. Strictly following Work Health and Safety (WHS) policies and procedures at all times. Completing risk assessments and Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) for all tasks. Ensuring all work is compliant with ARCtick regulations for refrigerant handling. Administration and Customer Service: Completing all required documentation accurately and in a timely manner, including service reports, job sheets, and maintenance logs. Communicating professionally with clients on-site, providing clear explanations of work performed and recommendations for system improvements. Maintaining the company-provided vehicle, tools, and equipment in a clean, safe, and operational condition. Providing technical support and guidance to apprentices or junior team members as required.
