About the role As our Community Engagement Specialist , you will be the face of The Carer Gateway program , creating awareness and increasing uptake among the carers who need it most. Your core focus is to grow referrals by building strong partnerships, forging community connections, and engaging directly with carers. You’ll bring curiosity, creativity, and initiative to the role, identifying gaps in the community and finding new ways to reach carers who may not yet know support is available. By building authentic relationships and approaching each interaction with warmth and purpose, you’ll help more carers access the free information, counselling, coaching, and practical assistance offered through Carer Gateway. Key areas of responsibility Grow referrals to Carer Gateway through proactive outreach in locations such as hospitals, community centres, organisations, expos, and local events. Build strong stakeholder relationships across referral networks, panels, and service providers, acting as a visible and trusted program ambassador. Deliver presentations and information sessions to hospitals, aged care, disability organisations, and community groups. Lead and coordinate key events such as Service Provider Days, Open Days, and expos, ensuring effective cross‑team collaboration. Create and share program materials with consumers, referral agencies, and partner organisations. Manage your own schedule and plan activities efficiently. Ensure services are person‑centred, connected, effective, and safe . Skills and Experience We are committed to ensuring your success in this role! To thrive with us, you should possess: Demonstrated experience improving referral uptake, generating sale or leads , and connecting clients to services. Proven relationship‑building skills , able to engage confidently with diverse stakeholders, partners, and community members. Effective presentation and group facilitation skills, comfortable delivering information sessions to diverse audiences. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team , managing your workload while contributing to shared goals. Strong communication and time‑management skills , with the ability to prioritise effectively in a fast‑paced outreach environment. Flexibility to work across multiple locations , including our Hurstville office and outreach areas across North & Central Sydney.
