Legal Counsel As our highly valued Legal Counsel based in Brisbane your role is to provide timely, commercial, and pragmatic legal advice that aligns with enterprise strategy execution and the board approved risk appetite. As a member of the Legal team and a subject matter expert, you can confidently and respectfully consult with Senior Managers across the organisation. This position is open to candidates located in Brisbane only with the flexibility to work from home two days a week. You’ll make an impact by: Partnering with the business and providing timely, commercial, and pragmatic legal advice that aligns with enterprise strategy execution and the board approved risk appetite Building, maintaining and managing open and effective relationships within and across the enterprise, gaining support for and influencing key internal stakeholders in their approach to legal risk management Demonstrating clear, confident, and highly skilled communication to be able to summarise complex legal concepts into practical steps or guidance for non-lawyers Identifying and implementing process improvements which drive efficiencies, allowing focus on legal matters which deliver more value for the business, including by leveraging the Lawcadia matter management system Do things differently with us To succeed in this role, you will have: A current practicing legal certificate in Queensland, or in another Australian State Experience working as an in-house legal counsel and business partner in a dynamic and fast paced environment, delivering practical guidance and advice to multiple clients and stakeholders Have worked in the banking and/or finance industry and have an understanding of the legislative framework for financial services licensing and regulation including the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth), ASIC Act 2001 (Cth), and National Consumer and Credit Protection Act 2009 (Cth) A minimum of 2-3 PAE as a lawyer, preferably some of which has been gained in-house in financial services industry, although solid private practice experience will also be well regarded Why Great Southern Bank?
