Full time ongoing position Salary range: $113,668 - $131,153 plus super plus salary packaging Up to $15,900 in salary packaging and hybrid WFH & office model About the roleThe Capability Specialist is responsible for coordinating and delivering an annual capability program that strengthens Victoria Legal Aid (VLA) staff skills and confidence in the specialist domains of data, analytics, documents, records, research, evaluation, and AI. The role plans, promotes, and delivers learning activities and resources; identifies and responds to capability gaps; and supports the adoption of new systems, processes, and standards. It ensures capability activities are practical, relevant, and aligned with agreed organisational practices. Working collaboratively with specialist teams across the Outcomes and Evidence unit, the role engages with staff and managers to understand capability needs, coordinates capability elements of strategic projects, and supports teams to integrate new skills into their day-to-day work. This role is based at our Melbourne CBD office on Wurundjeri Country. About youAs our ideal candidate, you will possess: Experience in coordinating capability or learning activities in a specialist or technical context, including planning, promotion, delivery, and evaluation. Strong organisational and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple activities and deadlines while maintaining attention to detail. Familiarity with one or more of the specialist domains of data, analytics, documents, records, research, evaluation, and/or AI, with the ability and willingness to develop understanding in other domains and work effectively with subject matter experts. Excellent communication and engagement skills, including the ability to create accessible learning materials and explain concepts in plain language. Collaborative working style, with the ability to build relationships across multiple teams and align capability activities with organisational standards and priorities. Proactive problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify capability gaps and design practical, fit-for-purpose solutions. Don't meet every requirement?
