A new role awaits The Financial Reporting and Control Branch has a new and exciting opportunity as APS6 Finance Officer (Professional Stream). The Financial Reporting and Control Branch supports the Agency in financial management and compliance with legislative and policy requirements, including the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act (2013) and the National Disability Insurance Scheme Act (2013). We provide timely and accurate financial information based on strong financial controls, supporting the agency's decision making and the Government's objectives for financial sustainability of both the agency and the scheme. Assets and Investments is accountable under broad direction to undertake complex work that delivers quality outcomes across the Finance functions of the NDIA. The position will have delegated authority and responsibility to assist in reporting, resolving discrepancies and issues across asset management activities involving significant detail and stakeholder engagement. Assets and Investments is required to provide leadership, control, guidance and advice for decision making on all asset related matter The key duties of the position include Where you can add value Responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to: Independently deliver specialist asset and lease accounting functions, exercising sound technical judgement and accountability under limited direction. Perform end of month asset and lease accounting activities, including preparation of complex journals, transaction analysis, reconciliations, and production of statutory and management reports. Maintain and ensure the integrity of the Agency's Fixed Assets Register, including accurate capitalisation, depreciation, impairment, disposal and revaluation treatments in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards. Provide technical assessment and ongoing accounting treatment of property lease contracts, ensuring compliance with AASB 16 and accurate recognition, measurement and disclosure in the lease accounting register. Conduct detailed monthly reviews and reconciliation of Fixed Asset and Lease General Ledger accounts, investigating variances and resolving technical accounting issues.
