The opportunity A number of positions are available across two roles for curious, creative thinkers who want to join a team that makes a difference every day. Enable processes that allow ASIO to protect Australia and Australians from threats to their security. Capability Protection Officer As a Capability Protection Officer, you will play a critical role in protecting sensitive ASIO intelligence and capabilities in accordance with legal principles, in various proceedings. You will also assist in coordinating the sharing of relevant ASIO information with law enforcement and other partners for investigation, regulatory and other lawful purposes. In this role you will work closely with members of the legal profession and a range of external stakeholders, in a dynamic and unique field. Capability Protection Officers also perform a key liaison and logistics role with the courts, tribunals and inquisitorial bodies to facilitate hearings and proceedings involving national security information and other classified information. Warrants Officer As a Warrants Officer, you will play a key role in enabling ASIO to use our special powers to protect Australia from threats to security. You will provide support and assurance to teams engaged in investigative and operational activity across ASIO and gain a unique insight into ASIO's special powers operations. Warrants Officers gain a knowledge of ASIO's legal and policy frameworks, provide first-line advice and deliver high-level services in support of warrant-related activities. A merit pool may be created to fill future vacancies which have the same or similar requirements to these positions. This merit pool will be valid for up to 18 months. The key duties of the position include Role responsibilities As a Capability Protection Officer or Warrants Officer in ASIO, you will: Build and maintain effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders. Work collaboratively within a small team to: protect and identify risk to ASIO intelligence and capabilities provide timely, targeted and practical assurance to clients regarding policy and legislative processes promote early engagement build strategic awareness of intelligence and capability protection or warrant issues. Identify current and anticipate future capability protection or warrants issues and work proactively with key stakeholders to develop solutions.
