My client is seeking a highly experienced, hands-on Senior Collections Specialist to manage a portfolio of SME loans across the full collections lifecycle. This is a critical individual contributor role (no people management) suited to someone who thrives in complex, high-risk recoveries and can deliver results quickly. This is a senior, results-focused position for a proven tenacious operator who can hit the ground running in a structured but autonomous environment. Key Responsibilities Manage end-to-end collections: Oversee a portfolio of SME loans across early to late-stage collections. Focus on secured and high-risk loans: Prioritise secured and other high-risk accounts, applying intensive recovery strategies to optimise outcomes. Maximise recoveries: Develop and execute effective debt recovery strategies to maximise cash collections and minimise bad-debt losses. Escalate delinquent accounts: Negotiate settlements with borrowers and coordinate legal recovery actions, including engaging external law firms where required. Hardship management: Work closely with customers experiencing financial difficulty to structure appropriate and sustainable repayment arrangements. Reporting: Prepare and present regular portfolio performance and recovery reports to the Executive team. Skills & Experience Proven collections background: Minimum 8 years’ experience in credit and collections, ideally within commercial lending or asset finance, with a strong track record of meeting or exceeding recovery targets. Strong negotiator: Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to secure favourable settlement outcomes. Regulatory expertise: Solid understanding of debt recovery legislation, hardship frameworks, and secured lending processes. Results-driven mindset: Highly self-motivated, resilient, and comfortable working independently within a structured framework.
