Our client, providing operational and infrastructure assessment, capacity modelling and optimisation services that support the performance of Queensland’s resources sector, is seeking a Capacity Modeller to join their small, high-performing team of specialists. In this role, you’ll work at the intersection of data, technology, and real-world rail and supply chain operations - delivering simulation insights that directly influence decisions. You will be exposed to complex, multi-stakeholder challenges, cutting‑edge modelling environments, and a culture that values curiosity, innovation, and continuous improvement. WHAT YOU’LL DO: As a key member of the Capacity Modelling team, you will: Collate and input stakeholder data into discrete event simulation modelling tools to assess supply chain and rail network capacity. Critically analyse, challenge, and interpret model outcomes – identifying key drivers, constraints, and improvement opportunities. Translate modelling results into clear operational insights, recommendations, and scenarios for decision makers. Identify data and modelling issues, proposing practical solutions and enhancements. Work closely with the CEO, Modelling & Reporting Teams and external customers to deliver high-quality, actionable modelling outputs. Contribute to process improvements and the evolution of modelling frameworks and digital capabilities. ABOUT YOU: You thrive in analytical environments and enjoy solving complex problems with real operational and commercial impact. You bring: Experience in capacity simulation modelling within supply chain, transport, mining, manufacturing, or consulting environments. Proficiency in discrete event simulation tools such as Anylogic, ExtendSim, Arena or similar. Qualifications in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, IT, Supply Chain/Logistics or a related discipline. Strong data literacy, problem solving capability and intellectual curiosity. Excellent communication and storytelling skills – able to simplify technical insights for diverse stakeholders. An interest in digital innovation, modern data platforms, and improving modelling processes. ON OFFER: You’ll be part of a small, trusted and collaborative team where your work directly influences the performance of one of the world’s most complex coal supply chains. A competitive salary package including a performance-related bonus. Flexible hybrid work arrangements. The opportunity to work alongside deeply experienced industry experts. Exposure to cutting-edge tools, including Microsoft Fabric, advanced simulation environments, and modern data automation. Involvement in complex, multi-stakeholder projects with the ability to drive improvements and change. A culture that embraces innovation, continuous improvement, and new ideas. A unique opportunity to develop your skills in a niche, high-impact area of supply chain optimisation.
