Key Responsibilities As a full-time Cook your duties will include: Selecting and checking ingredients to ensure they meet MACG quality, safety, and nutritional standards. Operating and managing ovens, grills, and other cooking equipment, including monitoring and adjusting temperatures as required. Preparing and cooking meals for residents in line with approved menus and care plans. Enhancing meals through appropriate use of seasonings while maintaining nutritional balance. Serving meals by accurately portioning food, plating dishes, and finishing with suitable sauces, gravies, and garnishes. Storing food correctly in refrigerated and temperature-controlled environments in accordance with food safety and infection control policies. Preparing meals that cater to individual dietary needs, including texture-modified diets, allergies, medical conditions, and cultural preferences. Assisting with menu planning and estimating food requirements to support efficient meal service across MACG facilities. Supporting the training and day-to-day guidance of kitchen staff and apprentices to maintain consistent service standards. Qualifications and Experience The ideal candidate will have: Relevant qualifications in cookery, hospitality, or kitchen management. Equivalent industry experience may be considered in place of formal qualifications. Proven experience in a similar role within aged care, healthcare, or hospitality. Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene standards, and dietary requirements. Ability to plan, prepare, and present nutritious and appealing meals. Excellent organisational and leadership skills with a collaborative approach. Genuine passion for creating a positive dining experience for residents.
