We're looking for someone who combines technical know-how with sharp problem-solving skills, sound judgment, and the ability to think ahead. This position will be offered at either the FO 1 Standards Officer ( SO ) or FO 2 Senior Standards Officer ( SSO ) level, depending on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience. Both levels require deep technical knowledge of flight crew licensing and training, including flight simulation. The key duties of the position include Ideal Candidate Our ideal candidate for the SS role must demonstrate the following: Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative, analysis, problem solving, judgement, and decision-making and apply technical knowledge and expertise on routine matters and/or unusual matters, anticipating future consequences or outcomes and develop long-term plans that maximise opportunities and minimise risk. Ability to work under direct guidance from CASA in accordance with established regulatory practices, operational needs, procedures, and assigned delegations. Ability to engage in stakeholder management, including with regulated entities, on sensitive and complex issues requiring conflict resolution within constrained time limits. Foundational working knowledge of Australian aviation safety legislation and guidance materials. Operational experience in Flight Training and Flight Simulator Evaluations or national aviation authority management experience. Our ideal candidate for the SSO role must demonstrate the following: Experience in the leading of regulatory and standards development activities or demonstrated experience leading projects with multiple stakeholders, including an understanding of government policies, funding arrangements, and economic impacts. Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative, analysis, problem solving, judgement, and decision-making and apply technical knowledge and expertise on complex matters and/or unusual matters, anticipating future consequences or outcomes, and to develop long-term plans that maximise opportunities and minimise risk. Ability to work under guidance and direction from CASA in accordance with established regulatory practices, operational needs, procedures, and assigned delegations. Ability to engage in effective stakeholder management, including with regulated entities, on sensitive and complex issues requiring conflict resolution within constrained time limits. Comprehensive working knowledge of Australian aviation safety legislation and guidance materials, and other aviation regulatory bodies such as the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). Comprehensive working knowledge of Australia's ICAO compliance requirements relevant to Flight Training and Licensing, including Flight Simulation. Operational management experience in Fight Training, Flight Simulator Evaluations or national aviation authority management experience.
