JOB TITLE: CHEF/COOK Location: Byron Bay, NSW Full - time ABOUT US: The Great Northern Hotel in Byron Bay are seeking an experienced qualified Chef/Cook on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for menu planning, food preparation, staff supervision, and ensuring compliance with food safety and hygiene standards. Salary on offer is $76,500 - $85,000 plus super, depending on experience. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Plan, organise and supervise kitchen operations Prepare, cook and present food to a high standard Approve and “polish” dishes before they reach the customer. Plan orders of equipment or ingredients according to identified shortages. Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene and WHS regulations Remedy any problems or defects. Oversee the work of subordinates. Estimate staff’s workload and compensations. Maintain records of payroll and attendance. Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards. Foster a climate of cooperation and respect between co-workers. SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Proven experience as a Chef or in a similar role. Have at least 3 years cooking experience Strong leadership and team management skills Sound knowledge of food safety and kitchen procedures and adherence to WHS requirements. Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Be available to work a roster that includes days, evening, weekends and public holidays.
