Description About the Role: Due to rescheduling recently undertaken, Kent Projects requires additional Blue-Collar resources from February to undertake discrete work scopes/packages on the Ampol Future Fuels Project in Lytton. As a Special Class Welder you will play a crucial role in the assembly and welding of various metal components including Piping, Pressure Vessels, Boilers and Tanks. Your expertise in welding techniques and attention to detail will ensure the quality and durability of our products. Responsibilities: Be a self-starter and able to work both autonomously and as part of a team. Perform welding tasks using techniques such as FCAW, GTAW, and SMAW based on project requirements and material specifications. Prepare materials for welding, including cutting, grinding, and shaping metals to precise measurements. Maintain all correct consumables, feeds, amperages and pre heat in accordance with applicable weld procedures. Weld piping and components in sequence to eliminate shrinkage and distortion. Remove tack welds, clean and restore weld preparations where required Follow quality control systems and techniques Interpret engineering and detail fabrication drawings, specifications and standards Demonstrate a commitment to workplace safety and the safety of your co-workers; Utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. Maintain and care for welding equipment, tools, and machinery, ensuring they are in proper working condition. Collaborate with other team members, including engineers, QA/QC inspectors, and construction management team, to achieve project goals and timelines. Keep detailed records of work performed: including Daily weld logs, Consumable logs, Workpacks and Weld maps. Assist Pipefitters and Boilermakers as required in their duties. Stay updated on industry trends, new welding technologies, and best practices to enhance skills and knowledge. About You: Our ideal candidate will have a Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade (Boilermaker) or equivalent, with the ability to pass a 6G pipe weld test to ASME IX / AS/NZS 3992 using GTAW and SMAW processes. They will bring proven experience welding A106, A333, and stainless steels to a minimum industry standard, along with current Work at Heights and Confined Space competencies (within the last three years). A Construction White Card and a valid Australian C Class driver’s licence are also essential.
