Staff Australia is exclusively representing a leading ophthalmology clinic, seeking a motivated Orthoptist or Ophthalmic Assistant to join their team. Why You'll Love This Role Work in modern, fully equipped surgical clinics with the latest ophthalmic diagnostic and imaging technology Gain hands-on experience across key ophthalmic specialties, including: Cataract surgery Glaucoma Medical retina diagnostics and intravitreal injection support Cornea Oculoplastics Uveitis Paediatrics Strabismus Collaborate closely with experienced ophthalmic surgeons and a supportive orthoptic and administration team Hands-on training provided - ideal for new graduates or candidates in their final year of study Key Responsibilities Conduct orthoptic assessments, visual acuity testing, refractions & IOP checks Perform diagnostic imaging: OCT, Optos fundus photography, wavefront aberrometry, topography/tomography Assist ophthalmologists with day surgery procedures, including intravitreal injections and corneal/oculoplastic minor surgical procedures Paediatric & strabismus assessments Ultrasound support: A-scan, anterior/posterior B-scan Collaborate with ophthalmologists, orthoptists, and administrative staff Provide ad hoc patient & administrative support as required Skills & Experienc Due to expansions and growth in the practice, you may have experience working in an ophthalmic practice or medical setting, or tertiary qualified with a degree in Science or Medical Science and looking to pursue a career in healthcare or clinical research.
