About us: The Child and Youth Mental Health Service team (Rockhampton) provides comprehensive assessment, treatment, and psychotherapeutic intervention for children and adolescents up to 18 years of age with or with emerging severe and/or complex mental health conditions to the community of Rockhampton, Capricorn Coast, Woorabinda, and Mount Morgan. The Child and Youth Mental Health Service form part of the Child and Youth Services Team, comprising of Child and Youth Mental Health, EVOLVE Therapeutic Services, Assertive Youth Outreach Team, and Youth Alcohol and Other Drugs and is located on the Rockhampton Hospital Campus. About the role: The CN delivers high quality evidence based clinical services in the therapeutic treatment of children and young people (and their family or carer networks) experiencing mental health issues and as a member of a multidisciplinary team. This includes crisis intervention, case management, therapeutic counselling, and physical health interventions, for example, physical health screening, observations and interventions and medication management. The position works closely with community partners including Schools, Child Safety, Non-Government Organisations and other Service providers in the care of young people experiencing mental health issues. Participate in the provision of appropriate mental health education programs for health professionals, community-based services, and community groups. Operate as a member of a multidisciplinary team in partnership with the mental health child and youth consumers with complex and diverse needs, their family, and carers, and with other stakeholders of the CQMHAODS. Deliver contemporary level of profession specific clinical services assessment, treatment, therapeutic interventions, and evaluation, within a multidisciplinary team in accordance with prescribed professional and ethical standards and applying clinical protocols including documentation. About you: Mandatory requirement for this role is current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and a current annual practicing certificate. While not mandatory: Credentialed status with the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses (ACMHN) is highly desirable. If not credentialed, willingness to undertake and complete the requirements for certification as a Credentialed Mental Health Nurse. Relevant post-registration and/or tertiary qualifications in Mental Health Nursing would be well regarded for a position at this level. Eligibility for appointment as an Authorised Mental Health Practitioner under the Mental Health Act 2016 would be highly desirable.
