About our Team The Department of Defence Guided Weapons and Explosive Ordnance (GWEO) Group is growing a team of dedicated employees performing activities such as requirements setting; contracting; procurement; international logistics; domestic manufacturing; item management and maintenance, and co-ordination of disposal. GWEO Systems Division is responsible for the GWEO capability life cycle. This includes the acquisition, sustainment and disposal of all guided weapons and explosive ordnance for Defence. The division is also responsible for: Maintenance of explosive ordnance. Developing the Australian Defence Force Weapons Capability Roadmap. Overseeing the remediation of GWEO preparedness. Our Ideal Candidate We're looking for an experienced engineering professional who thrives in complex technical environments and enjoys solving challenging problems. The ideal candidate will have: A degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, or related discipline), with additional certifications or postgraduate studies in explosive ordnance, weapons systems, or safety engineering highly regarded. Strong technical expertise in systems engineering, risk analysis, and compliance with safety and regulatory frameworks. Experience managing complex projects, assessing technical designs, and delivering practical solutions. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to tailor technical advice for diverse stakeholders and build strong collaborative relationships. Leadership capability-able to mentor, coach, and develop team members while managing priorities and workflows.
