The Role As a Livestock Receival Yardman, your primary responsibility is to ensure the highest standards of animal welfare for cattle on the afternoon/evening shift. This role is integral to the smooth and compliant operation of the yards, working collaboratively within a team of 8/10 people. A crucial component of the position involves effective communication and liaison with truck drivers to manage the smooth and safe transition of livestock deliveries from transport to the yards. You will be actively involved in the handling and movement of cattle, which requires strong knowledge of cattle health and different cattle types to move them safely and efficiently. Additionally, you will be responsible for correctly identifying and documenting lots and pens. A consistent commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and well-organized work environment is essential to comply with all facility protocols and occupational health and safety (OHS) requirements. The Offer This full-time position operates from Sunday to Thursday, with set hours of 2:30 pm to 11:10 am. The role offers a competitive hourly rate of $33.20, increasing to $38.19 for nightshift work, plus superannuation, annual, personal and Long Service leave in accordance with Australian workplace standards. All necessary work clothing and equipment will be supplied. As an employee, you will also receive staff discounts on meat products. The Tongala facility is a great place to work, located 20 minutes from Echuca, a prime location for watersports and fishing, close to historic sites. The Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will be punctual, hardworking, and a true team player with a passion for animal welfare and safety. Possess a great understanding of animal welfare practices, cattle health, and cattle types. Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with internal teams and truck drivers. Be highly attentive to detail and safety, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Be willing to work the designated PM shift: Sunday to Thursday, 3:00 pm to 12:00 am.
