Client Our client is a large mixed-farming, commercial beef operation focused on producing the highest-quality functional breeding beef animals and high-grade meat. The operation runs a large number of Angus cows, which includes selected Stud Angus cows. The business is now searching for an Assistant Livestock Manager. Role & responsibilities We are seeking an experienced, motivated, and hands-on person looking for an opportunity to: Help develop the Angus stud with the support of the stud principal and retiring stud manager. Work in the commercial cattle operation, turning off prime grassfed cattle for the feedlot industry and high-quality female breeders for sale and retention. Be involved with sowing and harvesting fodder and grain crops, mostly for stock feed. Participate in property, machinery and fence maintenance and repairs. Requirements Motivation to become an integral part of the success and growth of our Angus cattle and farm property, and willingness to promote our Angus brand. Skilled in cattle husbandry and stud tasks such as calf weighing and EBV recording. Understanding of low-stress stock handling practices. An eye for assessing the structure and condition of cattle, in particular the selection of stud stock and preparing bulls for sale. Prior experience with AI and ET programs is desirable but not essential. Ability to update farm management software such as Agriwebb. Excellent communication and people skills (including listening and working in a team, speaking with our customers and being punctual). Recognised certificates in agriculture and/or animal technology. Heavy truck licence and experience in safely operating farm machinery, including tractors. Chemical and chainsaw operating certificates. Have a genuine and positive attitude and a strong passion for agriculture. Minimum of 3years of prior experience on a family farm or similar.
