The Victorian Business is seeking a high-caliber Operations Manager for our Bird and Residential team , based in Port Melbourne . Reporting to the Victorian Business Manager, you will be a senior leader within the Melbourne business, managing a high-performing team of 27 whose success is essential to the overall branch. We are looking for a passionate, enthusiastic leader with a "can-do" attitude and the integrity to drive people toward success. This role balances the ongoing servicing of our residential portfolio with the successful end-to-end delivery of complex industrial bird-control projects. Key Responsibilities As the Operations Manager, you will drive team engagement, consistent service delivery, and strong profit results. Your focus will be divided across these core areas: Project Initiation, Planning & Execution Collaborative Scoping: Partner closely with Sales teams during the tender phase to help scope projects, estimate costs, and define clear objectives. Strategic Planning: Develop comprehensive project plans, schedules, and budgets, including robust risk management strategies. Delivery Excellence: Lead the execution of multiple concurrent projects, ensuring all aspects adhere to timelines, budget, and quality standards. Operational Leadership & Resource Management Team Management: Lead and manage Technicians, Local Service Managers (Supervisors), and internal stakeholders to ensure peak productivity. Resource Allocation: Define tasks and allocate resources effectively, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Fleet & Stock: Maintain oversight of a vehicle fleet and inventory to support operational efficiency. Stakeholder & Risk Management Primary Point of Contact: Act as the main link between clients, senior leadership, and cross-functional teams (including SHE and Sales), providing regular status updates. Mitigation: Proactively identify and assess project risks, implementing change management practices to keep deliverables on track. Safety & Compliance: Ensure the safety of our people and adherence to SHE standards remains a top priority. Commercial Performance & Project Closure Financial Oversight: Manage the Profit and Loss (P&L) account, monitoring commercial performance to ensure maximum value realization. Formal Close-out: Efficiently close projects by obtaining formal sign-offs, documenting lessons learned, and ensuring smooth transitions to operational teams. T he Ideal Candidate To be successful in this role, you must demonstrate a track record of strong leadership and proven business acumen. Essential Requirements: Leadership Experience: Proven experience as a Local Service Manager or a similar leadership role within construction or industrial services. Project Expertise: Demonstrated experience in managing the full project lifecycle, from tender to completion. Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional ability to coach, motivate, and manage relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders. Financial Literacy: Ability to manage P&L, deliver on KPIs, and contribute to annual operational plans. Adaptability: Ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
