Your Role St John of God Subiaco Hospital has provided ophthalmology services to members of the Western Australian community for more than a century, with our patients benefiting from the expertise of more than 30 of the State’s leading ophthalmologists. Our St John of God Subiaco Eye Hospital leverages off the strength and expertise of the hospital, with the dedication of a specialised facility for world-class eye care. In collaboration with the Nurse Manager and Deputy Director of Nursing, the Clinical Nurse Specialist will be responsible for improving and maintaining standards, developing solutions and delivering outcomes consistent with service and organisational imperatives and targets. This includes the provision of leadership, clinical performance monitoring, policy review and development, development and delivery of clinical education, implementing changes to clinical practice and initiating research and quality improvement activities. The Position Maintains advanced clinical skills and provides direct clinical care in the area of specialty practice. Incorporates Evidence Based Nursing Practice into patient care and leadership responsibilities. Acts as a resource in planning, implementing and evaluating care for patients. Facilitates the provision of advanced and complex patient care within the area of specialty, working in partnership with the patient, their family, the interdisciplinary team and external service providers. Demonstrates leadership through effective communication, interpersonal skills and change management capability reflective of a culture of professional accountability and quality service. Promotes and maintains collaborative relationships with accredited Medical Practitioners. Coordinates the collection of data to support participation in relevant clinical registries and clinical indicator programs. Leads, develops and contributes to the implementation of best practice standards relevant to in the area of specialty using an evidence-based approach and innovative solutions to continually lift the standards of practice. Actively participates in the implementation and maintenance of National Safety & Quality Health Service Standards and other external accreditation and licensing requirements. Provides specialized training and education resources to the broader multidisciplinary team to support best practice care delivery in the area of specialty practice. You will hold registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse and demonstrate significant knowledge, experience and leadership in the area of specialty. You will demonstrate knowledge and application of quality improvement initiatives and knowledge of research principles to support evidence-based practice. To succeed you will have well developed interpersonal and communication skills and feel comfortable with clinical teaching.
