About This Opportunity You will be employed by the General Practice Clinical Unit (GPCU) within the UQ Medical School as a Research Fellow, contributing to the MRFF-funded project RELEASE – REdressing Long-tErm Antidepressant uSE in general practice . RELEASE aims to improve the lives of millions of Australians by reducing unnecessary and potentially harmful long-term antidepressant use through a multimodal, GP-based intervention that supports medication review, tapering, and discontinuation where appropriate. Working under the direction of the RELEASE Clinical Lead and Implementation Lead, you will support the implementation and process evaluation of this innovative study, coordinating day-to-day qualitative research activities including data collection and analysis using an implementation science lens. This role will suit you if you are a motivated qualitative Postdoctoral Research Fellow with strong communication and relationship-building skills, a collaborative approach to teamwork, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Key responsibilities will include: Coordinate a series of qualitative research studies that contribute to the RELEASE process evaluation. Lead ethics applications, data collection including interviewing, and analysis of the qualitative studies. Take a lead role in applying relevant and applicable qualitative research approaches, methods, and analysis. Apply project management skills to ensure study timelines are met and outcomes are delivered. Maintain data integrity. Undertake literature searches Write papers for publication in peer-reviewed journals. Lead coordination and communication with study participants, including the drafting of emails, and other materials. Utilise a range of desktop-based programs (Word, Excel, Endnote, PowerPoint,) including qualitative data management software. This is a part-time (40%), fixed-term position through to April 2026 at Academic Level A. About You PhD in health sciences with 2 years applied qualitative research experience preferably in health-related research. Prior research experience specifically related to antidepressants prescribing in general practice. Advanced knowledge of ethical considerations in mental health research Demonstrated experience in applying various methodologies commonly used in qualitative research (e.g. reflexive thematic analysis) and using theory-informed approaches. Demonstrated excellent communication skills, including qualitative interviewing experience. Demonstrated experience in collection, analysis, and write-up of qualitative research. Demonstrated experience in research coordination, particularly with multiple stakeholders with ability to prioritise and resolve critical issues efficiently and effectively with minimal supervision. Strong time management and organisational skills, with an attention to detail, ability to support the management of multiple complex tasks, and meet deadlines.
