Join us and make an impact that matters. The Finance Team Morningstar’s Finance team is responsible for planning, forecasting, preparing and analysing the company’s financial results. The team supports the business with timely and insightful information, while ensuring strong compliance with accounting and regulatory frameworks. Essentially, they provide accurate financial data to help management steer the business effectively. The Role This role is based in our Sydney office and reports to our Australia Finance Controller. You will be part of a small local team but, as part of a global organization, you will gain broad exposure to Morningstar and global accounting practices . This is a great opportunity to develop your accounting career in the financial services sector, to gain regional and cross-border experience and to build skills in modelling, M & A and corporate reporting. This role is primarily responsible for reporting, tax and compliance but you will work cross function ally to support revenue and receivables and expense management Key Responsibilities: Reporting & Compliance Group reporting and month-end close Quarterly certifications and ANZ/APAC management pack preparation Statutory reporting and accounts, AFSL submissions, and compliance Engagement with external auditors and tax professionals Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Oversight of FP&A processes, including budget compilation and final load checks Collaboration with business lines and corporate teams Balance Sheet & Cash Management Balance sheet reviews and reconciliations Intercompany charges, invoicing, and settlements Cash and working capital optimization, including FX arrangements Tax & Regulatory Quarterly group tax submissions Annual tax provisions and returns Transfer pricing, R&D tax incentives Support for global tax initiatives and compliance Other Support new business initiatives and M&A activities Cross functional support for Finance team responsibilities across Revenue, Receivables and Expense management Essential Requirements: Strong background in financial reporting Experience with corporate income tax, FBT, BAS/GST Knowledge of ANZ accounting standards Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field CPA or equivalent qualification or currently undertaking Minimum 4 years of experience in an accounting or related position . Familiarity in applying revenue recognition principles related to software, service contracts, assets under management and cross-country transactions. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with global teams and stakeholders. Must have the right to work in Australia – either a citizen or permanent resident . It would also be great if you have: Experience in regulatory reporting under AFSL license requirements Exposure to Pillar Two tax regime or readiness to develop expertise Interest in sustainability reporting or willingness to learn Good understanding of budgeting & forecasting processes Experience with Salesforce and Oracle is a plus. Background in asset-based fee calculations or finance industry is a plus.
