The Economic Strategy and Home Ownership Division serves as the hub for Treasury's economic analysis and policy development. We apply economic theory and analysis to assess Queensland's economic performance, identify future opportunities, and develop innovative policy solutions to promote sustainable growth. As a Senior Economist in the Economic Policy team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping Queensland's economic future. You will lead the delivery of rigorous economic policy advice, collaborate with key stakeholders, and contribute to fostering a positive and high-performing team culture. In This Role, You Will Support the Director in managing team responsibilities and functions. Collaborate with Queensland public sector agencies to influence policy agendas across Government and ensure the delivery of economically responsible public policy. Build and maintain positive relationships with clients and stakeholders to address complex policy issues. Lead strategic research and analysis activities, including preparing and reviewing economic modelling, policy advice, and reports. Represent Queensland Treasury on intergovernmental committees and interdepartmental working groups. Coordinate whole-of-government processes and represent Queensland Treasury's interests where required. What Experience You Will Bring To succeed in this role, you will bring: The ability to conduct robust economic policy analysis and provide advice using sound economic frameworks and modelling to support informed decision-making and policy development. Comprehensive economic and analytical knowledge and experience, with an eye for accuracy and detail. Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability and confidence to provide briefings and submissions on complex economic matters. Demonstrated relationship-building skills to collaborate across all levels of Treasury and government. The capability to undertake and provide expert analysis and advice on complex economic issues, including productivity, competition, regulatory reform, and women's economic security. Strong judgement, authority, and influence to effectively manage client requirements and team priorities. Proven ability to prepare and guide the delivery of highly complex reports, submissions, briefing notes, and correspondence within tight timeframes. Qualifications And Education While there are no mandatory qualifications for this role, a relevant degree or postgraduate studies in Economics or Public Policy will be highly regarded.
